Taha B.M.J. Ouarda is Professor in the National Institute of Scientific Research, INRS, Canada. His specialization is in statistical hydrometeorology, water resources management, environmental modeling, and risk analysis. He was Chairman of the Canada Research Chair on the Estimation of Hydro-meteorological Variables, and also Chairman of the Industrial Chair in Statistical Hydrology at the National Institute for Scientific Research. He has also served as President of the National Canadian Committee on Statistical Hydrology. Dr. Ouarda holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University and a principal engineer degree from the National Engineering School of Tunis, Tunisia. He has developed several approaches for the estimation of extreme hydro-meteorological events on local and regional scales, developed several methodologies for the modeling of hydro-meteorological variables under changing environments, and developed several computer software that deal with a range of problems in the fields of hydrometeorology, water resources and environmental engineering. He has also led several international projects dealing with hydro-meteorological modelling, environmental analysis and the links between climate evolution, the environment, and public health. Dr. Ouarda is the author of more than 400 articles in his fields of specialization.
